Common sizes vary and range from 80mm wide up to 133mm wide depending on the species with 19mm or 21mm thickness.
 
Also different types of timber flooring have varying strengths. It is the 'Janka rating' of a timber flooring variety that measures its hardness. Some of the lower rating timber floors, although still very popular, include Tasmanian Oak and Vic Ash - their rate ranging from 4.9-5.5 as compared with harder timber floors like black butt rated 9.1 and spotted gum 11.0.
